Auckland

AT and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi have created a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians from Merton Road near Glen Innes Station to Tāmaki Drive, allowing you to walk, run or cycle from Auckland’s eastern suburbs to the Waitematā Harbour.

Project Requirements

The new shared path required a high-performance seismic expansion joint system. Sika’s EMSEAL SJS-Seismic joint system is designed to provide a watertight and trafficable joint sealing solution for large joint sizes from 50 mm – 450 mm wide with excellent movement. The finished result had to be pedestrian-, bicycle- and vehicle-friendly.

Challenges

The foam joints are protected with a proprietary aluminium cover plate which must sit flush on the surface.

Sika Solution

Sikadur-31 CF Normal is a moisture tolerant, thixotropic, structural 2-component adhesive and repair mortar. The Product was applied over the EMSEAL SJS seismic joints to create an even surface before cover plates could be laid.
