It is the perfect choice for business and leisure accommodation.
Project Requirements
The swimming pool on the 8th floor of the hotel was not in good shape. Sika was asked to help with the repair process, including removing and providing a replacement solution for the existing waterproofing and tiling around the pool areas and the exterior awning on level 8.
Challenges
- Disruption to the hotels permanent residents was kept to a minimum (dust, noise, fumes, and foot traffic).
- All products specified had specific requirements. This was due to the swimming pool being located on level 8, to ensure no leakage would transfer to the levels below (car park, service rooms, restaurant, and reception)
Sika Solution
The Sikadur Combiflex SG System was used for this project due to its high performance joint and crack sealing properties for expansion (movement) joints.A complete tiling solution was offered by Sika, fromthe waterproofing through to the tile adhesive andgrout. Sikalastic-152, a 2-part, flexible, crack-bridging,fiber-reinforced mortar, was used to waterproof around the swimming pool area before the application of ceramic tiles.
The tiles were bonded using SikaCeram-255 StarFlex LD, a cement-based, low dust tile adhesive suitable for high performance areas such as swimming pools with heavy foot traffic. Tile grouting and sealing was completed with SikaCeram® StarGrout and Sikasil® Pool sealant.
