Pukekohe, Auckland
Pukekohe Train Station opened in May 1875, and the service runs along the southern line. The train line continues to be used by a lot of commuters every day. The pedestrian bridge at the station copes with plenty of foot traffic, and repairs were required to maintain the bridges's strength and durability.
Project Requirements
Concete repair solutions to eprofile joint edges, and the resealing of joints were required:
- The joint sealant needed to be tough to endure frequent pedestrian traffic (foot and trolley), along with flexibility to accomodate movement.
- Repairs to the concrete edging needed to be high strength and would bond to damp concrete as well as steel.
Challenges
- The permanent steel shutters in place were making the existing sealant split.
- The concrete edging against and over these steel shutters was breaking off.
- The joints were leaking on the platform below and defective concrete edging could potentially become trip hazards.
