Whanganui
Hymech NZ is a locally owned business based in Whanganui. Hymech has a fully equipped workshop for all general and precision engineering tasks - from mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic servicing, or producing custom built cylinders and powerpacks for a range of applications. The business had been battling ongoing leaks in the premises and decided an upgrade and refurbishment of their retail space was required.
Project Requirements
The roof was leaking like a sieve so Hymech NZ were unsure of the expense or complexity of the solution. Would it be a full re-roof? An overlay membrane? They consulted Sika for a suitable solution that would provide a seamless, low maintenance, durable, and a quick installation.
Challenges
Due to the leaky roof, and the forecast predicting prevailing wind and showers, the product had to have a fast application and quick drying ability. Dew on the substrate posed some problems with limited daylight to have the coating installed and dried. Several areas of the existing roof had rusted through. Spot repairs and rust removal was required before application could be applied.

Sikalastic®-625 N is a 1-part polyurethane, reinforced, cold-applied liquid membrane. It provides a flexible, seamless waterproofing solution for new and refurbishment metal roofs. The paint on option allowed the applicators to get into the hard-to-reach areas and to ensure a seamless and quick application.
