Product Details
Chemical Base
Synthetic rubber,solvent-dispersed and resin based primer
Shelf Life
12 months from date of production. For expiry date see label.
Storage Conditions
Product must be stored in original unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions and temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Store in a vertical position. Always refer to packaging. Protect from direct sunlight, rain, snow, ice and humidity.
Density
~0.84 kg/m3 (+20 °C)
Flash Point
-20 °C
Viscosity
~900 ± 100 mPa.s
Application
Ambient Air Temperature
+ 5 °C min. / + 35 °C max
Dew Point
The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point to reduce the risk of condensation and reduced adhesion.
Substrate Temperature
Bonded surface: minimum +5 °C (Refer to Limitations for more information)
Substrate Moisture Content
≤ 6 % parts by weight. No rising moisture
Waiting Time / Overcoating
Evaporation time is dependent on the substrate, the weather and the amount of primer applied, generally this is approximately 20 minutes (+20 °C). Let the material dry sufficiently until the surface is no longer tacky. A test is recommended.
Consumption
~100–300 g/m2.
These figures are theoretical and do not allow for any additional material due to surface porosity, surface profile, variations in level or wastage etc.
SUBSTRATE QUALITY
Concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm2) with a minimum tensile adhesion strength of 1.5 N/mm2. Substrate must be even, level, clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease and surface treatments.
Weak cementitious substrates must be removed and surface defects such as blow holes and voids must be fully exposed and repaired accordingly.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
SikaProof® P and SikaBit® S - post-applied system primer:
Concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm2) with a minimum tensile adhesion strength of 1.5 N/mm2.
Substrate must be even, level, clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease.
Weak cementitious substrates must be removed and surface defects such as blow holes and voids must be fully exposed.
If the substrate does not fulfil the requirements the surface must be pre-treated prior to the application, in order to prevent any subsequent damage to the waterproofing membrane sheets. The use of SikaProof® Primer-01 is required to ensure an optimal, durable bond to the substrate (this primer is a defined system component).
APPLICATION
Reference must be made to further documentation where applicable, such as relevant method statement and installation or working instructions.
Apply mixed primer onto the prepared substrate by brush or roller. Ensure a continuous, pore free coat covers the substrate.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
Clean all tools and application equipment with suitable cleaner immediately after use. Hardened or cured material can only be removed mechanically.
