Long Bay Town Centre is a mixed residential and retail development. The major retail component includes a supermarket with basement car parking covered with a podium deck. The podium deck connects pedestrian traffic to a mix of residential medium high-rise apartments and smaller retail outlets including restaurants and bars.

Challenges

The main challenge was the podium deck waterproofing. The deck design included expanded polystyrene and light weight concrete to meet structural loading requirements. This in turn had a significant impact on the detailing and execution of the waterproofing of the deck.
