IMPORTANT
Observe conditions for exterior use
The Product may be used for exterior applications only if the following conditions are met.
- Traffic speed must be limited to < 30 km/h (< 19 mph).
- Protect the Sika® FloorJoint panel with a UV-resistant coating.
IMPORTANT
Do not remove the masking tape
The masking tape is necessary to separate the two composite parts of the panel separate, enabling joint movement after installation.
- Never remove the masking tape attached to the underside of the Sika® FloorJoint panel.
IMPORTANT
Risk of relative vertical displacement along the sides of the joint
Vertical displacement of the concrete slabs along the length of either side of the joint can result in damage or performance variations of the Sika® FloorJoint panel.
- Take appropriate measures such as anchoring, bolting, or ground consolidation by injection prior to installing the Sika® FloorJoint panel.
IMPORTANT
Reduced mechanical resistance due to excessive grinding depth
If you can no longer see the letters on the top surface of the Sika® FloorJoint panel after grinding, the maximum grinding depth of 2 mm has been exceeded, resulting in a reduction of the profile's mechanical resistance.
- Do not exceed the maximum grinding depth of 2 mm.
- Replace the panel if the maximum grinding depth has been exceeded.
IMPORTANT
Be careful when placing or adjusting the panel
- Do not use a hammer to place or adjust the Sika® FloorJoint panel during installation.
Surface cracking caused by settlement
Note: Settlement of the substrate or of the adhesive can result in surface cracks in Sika® FloorJoint panel. These cracks do not constitute a defect, since they do not affect the viability and suitability for use.
Preparing the cut-out
- Continuously monitor the abrasion of the diamond cutting disc used for preparing the cut-out.
- Regularly readjust the disc to ensure consistent preparation of cuts at a depth of 25 mm.
Making the joint waterproof and maintaining the joint sealing material
Note: The sealant may break during positive joint movement of ~10–15 mm, however this does not affect the technical performance of the Product. The purpose of the joint sealant is the reduction of dirt pick-up in the joint, not to provide water tightness.
- Install Sikadur-Combiflex® SG System to the base of the joint before installing the Product if a waterproof joint design is required.
- After installation, inspect the joint sealing material as part of the maintenance procedure.
- Renew the joint sealing material if required.
